The city’s population enjoys a generally high level of culture. Several cultural institutions are located here, such as the Tranquilino Sandalio de Noda Museum of Natural Sciences, where visitors can explore the natural history of the province—from ancient dinosaurs to the region’s evolutionary processes. There are also cinemas and theaters that broaden educational and recreational options for residents and visitors. Numerous cabarets and nightclubs provide lively nightlife, and there is a flourishing food scene with the opening of several privately run restaurants, known locally as “paladares.”
