Bayamo was the second town founded in Cuba by Diego Velázquez in 1513. It is a city with a profound historical and cultural richness.


Recognized as the capital of Granma Province, it has been an epicenter of the region's economic, social, and industrial development. Its historical importance is indisputable, as it is considered the Cradle of Cuban Nationality, the place where the Cuban National Anthem was sung for the first time.


Its historic center, declared a National Monument in 1978, preserves unique colonial architecture and streets steeped in history. The city is famous for its horse-drawn carriage tradition, a symbol of local identity. It is also home to emblematic sites such as the birthplace of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, leader of the Cuban independence movement.
